A “size M” from one brand is not necessarily the same shape or fit as a “size M” from another. Even centimetre-based sizes do not describe every part of the bicycle.
Use the manufacturer’s chart
Identify the exact model and model year, then find its sizing and geometry information. Height ranges are only a starting point.
Understand stack and reach
Stack and reach describe the frame’s height and length relative to the bottom bracket. Comparing them with a bike you already ride comfortably is often more useful than comparing size labels alone.
Ask the seller for details
- A clear photograph of the size label.
- The model year, if known.
- Whether the stem, handlebar, or seatpost has been changed.
- An opportunity to inspect the bike in person.
Get help with fit
